Privacy policy.
The short version: we collect as little as we can, we use it to answer you and to improve this site, we don't sell it, and you can ask us to show it, fix it or delete it at any time.
This policy explains how PHLIK (PHLIK Marketing, Bromont, Québec) handles personal information on phlik.ca and when you get in touch with us. It is written to meet Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25.
Who is responsible
Phil Henderson, Founder and Lead Strategist, is the person in charge of the protection of personal information at PHLIK.

What we collect, and why
When you write to us
The contact form asks for your name, your email address and your message. Company and subject are optional. If you email or call us, we also have what you tell us and your contact details.
We use this to answer you, prepare a proposal if you ask for one, and follow up on our conversation. We don't add you to a mailing list.
When you browse the site
Our host records basic technical data that every website needs to run and stay secure: IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, date and time.
If you accept analytics cookies, we also see how the site is used: pages viewed, approximate location (city or region), the site that sent you here, and actions such as playing a video, sending the form or clicking our email or phone number. We use these numbers, in aggregate, to make the site better. We don't use them to identify you.
When you become a client
We keep the contact, contract and billing information needed to do the work and meet our tax and accounting obligations. What we film, photograph or write for a mandate is covered by the agreement we sign for that project.
We don't collect personal information from other sources to build a profile of you, and no decision about you is made by an automated system.
Cookies and similar technologies
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. Nothing that measures your visit with cookies is switched on until you say yes.
Essential. Set by Squarespace so the site works and stays secure, and to remember your cookie choice. These don't need your consent.
Analytics, only if you accept. Google Analytics and Squarespace Analytics, to measure visits as described above. If you decline, Google may still receive an anonymous signal that a page was loaded, with no cookie and no identifier.
Videos. Films on this site are hosted by YouTube and Vimeo. They load only when you press play. From that moment, YouTube or Vimeo may set their own cookies under their own policies.
Spam protection. Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA, which analyzes technical signals from your browser to tell people from bots.
You can change your mind at any time with the "Cookie Preferences" tab at the bottom of any page, or by clearing cookies in your browser.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run our site and our business, and only what they need:
Squarespace: website hosting, the contact form and site analytics.
Google: email (Google Workspace), Google Analytics and reCAPTCHA.
Weglot: the French version of this site.
YouTube and Vimeo: video playback, when you press play.
Our invoicing and accounting tools, for clients.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Information stored outside Québec
These providers store or process data on servers outside Québec, mainly in the United States and the European Union. Before using a provider, we consider how sensitive the information is, what it is used for and the protection the provider offers, and we rely on their contractual commitments to keep it safe.
How long we keep it
Messages and inquiries: up to two years after our last exchange, then deleted, unless you become a client.
Client contracts and billing records: seven years, to meet tax and accounting rules.
Analytics data: 14 months, then deleted automatically.
When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.
How we protect it
Access is limited to Phil Henderson and, when a mandate requires it, to the collaborators working on it. Our accounts are password-protected and our providers encrypt data in transit.
If a confidentiality incident involving your information creates a risk of serious harm, we will notify you and the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, and we keep a register of incidents.
Your rights
You can, at any time and at no cost:
ask whether we hold personal information about you and get a copy;
have it corrected if it is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date;
withdraw your consent, which includes declining cookies or asking us to stop contacting you;
ask us to delete it, stop sharing it or de-index it, where the law provides for it;
receive the information you gave us in a commonly used digital format.
Write to phil@phlik.ca. We may need to confirm your identity. We answer in writing within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Children
This site is for businesses. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 14. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new date. If the change is significant, we will say so on the site.
